About

My name is Brittany and I am a digital marketing professional by day and foodie blogger by night.

This is eat something new – a food product, recipe and restaurant review website that stemmed from my creative outlets: writing, photography and food fused with my professional passions: SEO and social media.

I blog about food as a creator, consumer and a contemplator. On this blog you will find recipes I came up with trying to use up what was in my fridge, re-makes of recipes I’ve found in books or online, reviews of products, and my experiences at restaurants.

This website (especially since re-launch in March 2013) has a healthy spin. But that doesn’t mean you can’t find beer samplers and burgers!

I call myself a “healthy eater”. This is not to be confused with a “health nut” (not that there’s anything wrong with that!). Green smoothies and pizza are two of my favorite foods.  I try my hardest to get everything my body needs with a little bit of what my mind wants, all the while satisfying my taste buds. I do not restrict myself to a specific type of diet, but I do “Live Weight Watchers.” I did weight watchers for 8 months and lost over 20 pounds. Since then I’ve continued to count points each day but focus more on the true nutritional value of the points, and on exercise. The points are a way for me to control my splurges and to not feel guilty about small and occasional indulgences.  This is why you’ll see WW points in a lot of my posts.

Most of all I think that food is a huge part of culture, and a huge part of our daily lives and therefore is something that we need to understand, embrace, and have fun with! I hope to inspire you to try something new whether it’s on a plate, in a glass, in a restaurant or in your kitchen.

A few fun facts that make up my food [and life] philosophy:

I am a firm believer that food variety is the spice of life. We eat to survive every single day, so why not make it exciting?

Food is just food until you try something new, then it’s an experience.

I am on a quest to find foods that are a little healthier than their common preparations, but just as, if not more, satisfying.

I am willing to try anything and everything at least twice.

Good things may come to those who wait but only things left by those who hustle. [abraham lincoln]

travelers with closed minds can tell us little, except about themselves. [chinua achebe]

Try something new everyday – whether it’s food or something else. Spice things up!
